“The Church is always with its people.” These words echo through the lives of countless families in Ukraine who, scarred by the brutality of the Russian invasion, continue to find hope, comfort, and support through the charitable ministry of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA.

With the paternal blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, and in close cooperation with His Eminence Metropolitan Serhii of Donetsk, the Church’s aid continues to flow unceasingly from the United States of America to Ukraine. It is a living witness to Christ’s commandment of love - a reminder that in the darkest winters of war, mercy shines as a light that warms hearts and saves lives.

As Ukraine prepares for another harsh winter, the needs of refugees and internally displaced persons grow ever more urgent. Blankets, pillows, warm clothing, heaters, and bedding are not luxuries - they are matters of survival. Families who once lived in safety and dignity now face freezing nights in unfamiliar shelters, stripped of their homes and possessions.

The Church is responding. Shipments of warm bedding, household essentials, food, and hygiene products are leaving America and arriving in humanitarian hubs such as Samar, where displaced persons gather daily. There, the faces of sorrow and fatigue tell stories from Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Bakhmut - entire communities uprooted and scattered.

The ministry of compassion does not stop at material aid. With prayer and courage, clergy and volunteers are evacuating families from the frontlines - from towns where shells fall daily and death hovers near. Recently, together with benefactress Natalia, an entire family was brought out of danger. Their whole life was reduced to what could fit into one car. Yet, within that car, there was also something far greater - the assurance that they were not forgotten.

The elderly, who never dreamed that their last years would be lived as exiles, the disabled, the orphans, the weary parents carrying children in their arms - all find in the Church a friend who walks with them, who lifts them when despair weighs them down.

The success of this ministry is possible only because of unity and shared love. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, guided by Metropolitan Antony and Archbishop Daniel, works in brotherly cooperation with Metropolitan Serhii of Donetsk, whose leadership in a region battered by war has become a beacon of strength and compassion.

Metropolitan Serhii’s charitable heart beats with the pain of his people. He stands not as a distant hierarch but as a true shepherd - walking among the displaced, encouraging the weary, and inspiring priests, volunteers, and faithful to serve with courage. His cooperation with our clergy, particularly Very Rev. Fr. Kostyantyn Kuznetsov and his wife Natalia, ensures that every blanket, every loaf of bread, every package of medicine reaches those who need it most. Together, this united ministry becomes the living hands of Christ.

Every package that arrives is more than food or hygiene - it is a touch of human warmth, a spark of hope. It tells each person: “You are not alone. The Church is with you. God has not abandoned you.”

Fr. Kostyantyn and Natalia, laboring with Christ-like love in Donetsk region, embody this ministry. With the prayers of Metropolitan Antony and the steadfast cooperation of Metropolitan Serhii, and with the generosity of donors and benefactors across the ocean, they stand as hands of mercy stretched across the world - hands that deliver life-saving aid, comfort, and hope.

The needs are immense, and the war shows no sign of ending. Children continue to lose their parents. Families are driven from their homes. The cold winter winds bring fear of illness, hunger, and loneliness.

And yet, goodness always finds its way. The Church will not abandon its flock. With every blanket, every loaf of bread, every heater, and every evacuation, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA proclaims that the love of Christ cannot be conquered by war.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all donors, benefactors, and faithful friends who make this holy work possible. Together, with the prayerful guidance of Metropolitan Antony and Metropolitan Serhii, we carry the cross of our suffering brothers and sisters, and together, we bring them the light of resurrection hope.

And today, as Ukraine suffers, the Church stands as its friend, its comforter, and its steadfast companion on the road to victory, peace, and healing.

«Церква завжди зі своїм народом». Ці слова відлунюють у житті незліченних сімей в Україні, які, зранені жорстокістю російського вторгнення, продовжують знаходити надію, розраду і підтримку завдяки благодійному служінню Української Православної Церкви США.

З батьківським благословенням Високопреосвященнішого Митрополита Антонія та у тісній співпраці з Високопреосвященнішим Митрополитом Сергієм Донецьким, допомога Церкви невпинно тече з Америки в Україну. Це є живе свідчення Христової заповіді любові – нагадування, що в найтемніші зими війни милосердя сяє світлом, яке зігріває серця та рятує життя.

Україна готується до ще однієї суворої зими, і потреби біженців та внутрішньо переміщених осіб стають дедалі гострішими. Ковдри, подушки, теплий одяг, обігрівачі та постіль – це не розкіш, а питання виживання. Сім’ї, які колись жили у безпеці та гідності, тепер проводять холодні ночі у тимчасових притулках, позбавлені дому і майна.

Церква відповідає. Відправляються вантажі з теплими речами, предметами першої необхідності, продуктами харчування та засобами гігієни. Вони прибувають у гуманітарні осередки, зокрема в місті Самар, де щодня збираються переселенці. Тут обличчя з відчаєм і втомою розповідають історії з Костянтинівки, Покровська, Торецька, Бахмута – цілий край вирваний із корінням.

Служіння милосердя не обмежується лише матеріальною допомогою. З молитвою і мужністю священнослужителі та волонтери евакуйовують сім’ї з прифронтових територій – з міст, де щодня падають снаряди і панує смерть. Нещодавно, разом із добродійкою Наталею, було врятовано родину. Все їхнє життя вмістилося в один автомобіль. І все ж у цьому авто було щось більше – впевненість, що про них не забули.

Літні люди, які ніколи не уявляли своєї старості на чужині, люди з інвалідністю, сироти, змучені батьки з дітьми на руках – усі вони знаходять у Церкві друга, який іде поруч, піднімає, коли відчай знемагає.

Успіх цього служіння можливий лише завдяки єдності та спільній любові. Українська Православна Церква США, під проводом Митрополита Антонія та Архієпископа Даниїла, працює у братерській співпраці з Митрополитом Сергієм Донецьким, чиє керівництво у зраненому війною регіоні стало маяком сили та співчуття.

Митрополит Сергій має благодійне серце, яке відгукується на біль свого народу. Він стоїть не як далекий ієрарх, а як справжній пастир – серед переселенців, серед знедолених, надихаючи священників, волонтерів і вірних служити з відвагою. Його співпраця з нашими душпастирями, зокрема з протоієреєм Костянтином Кузнєцовим та його дружиною Наталією, забезпечує те, що кожна ковдра, кожна буханка хліба, кожна упаковка ліків потрапляє до тих, хто цього найбільше потребує. Разом це служіння стає живими руками Христа.

Кожен пакунок, який прибуває, – це більше ніж їжа чи гігієна. Це дотик людського тепла, іскра надії. Він каже кожному: «Ти не сам. Церква з тобою. Бог тебе не залишив».

Отець Костянтин і матушка Наталія, які з Христовою любов’ю трудяться на Донеччині, є втіленням цього служіння. З молитвами Митрополита Антонія та завдяки братерській співпраці з Митрополитом Сергієм, а також з щедрістю добродійників і жертводавців по той бік океану, вони стають простягнутими руками милосердя – руками, що приносять допомогу, розраду та надію.

Потреби величезні, і війна не припиняється. Діти втрачають батьків. Родини позбавлені домівок. Холодні зимові вітри несуть страх хвороб, голоду і самотності.

І все ж, добро завжди знаходить свій шлях. Церква не залишить свою паству. З кожною ковдрою, з кожним шматком хліба, з кожним обігрівачем і кожною евакуацією Українська Православна Церква США проголошує: любов Христова не може бути переможена війною.

Ми складаємо щиру подяку всім жертводавцям, добродійникам і друзям, які роблять це святе діло можливим. Разом, із молитвенним керівництвом Митрополита Антонія та Митрополита Сергія, ми несемо хрест наших стражденних братів і сестер і разом приносимо їм світло надії Воскресіння.

І сьогодні, коли Україна страждає, Церква стоїть поруч – як друг, як утішитель, як вірний супутник на шляху до перемоги, миру та зцілення.
