"For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink..." (Matthew 25:35)

As Ukrainian soil continues to tremble each day under Russian missile and drone attacks, and temperatures in eastern Ukraine soar above 36°C (97°F), human suffering grows even more severe. War knows no weekends. It does not stop because of heat or exhaustion. Therefore, the ministry of Christ's Church cannot cease either.

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, Prime Hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, the clergy, faithful, and countless benefactors continue to stand beside the people of Ukraine, who have endured the hardships of war for many years.

Through the humanitarian ministry of the Donetsk Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, aid provided by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA reaches those who need it most each and every day.

In recent days, twenty tons of humanitarian dairy products - including yogurt, milk beverages, children's nutritional products, and vitamin-enriched foods - were delivered to the city of Dnipro. Within only a few hours, volunteers and clergy distributed this assistance to internally displaced persons, individuals with disabilities, children's institutions, hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, and large families.

Particularly meaningful was the outreach to those who, because of serious illness or physical disabilities, could not even travel to the humanitarian center. Priests and volunteers personally delivered food directly to their homes, knowing that for many families today even a simple cup of yogurt has become an unaffordable luxury.

Another vital aspect of this ministry has been caring for internally displaced persons. Every day, the Volunteer Center of the Donetsk Diocese welcomes families who only days earlier were forced to flee their homes because of relentless shelling. There they receive food packages, medications, warm blankets, and other essential supplies.

Yet, as the volunteers themselves testify, the greatest gift they offer is often not food.

It is human presence. A kind word. Prayer offered together. The assurance that no one has been left alone in the midst of suffering.

One especially moving example of authentic Christian ministry was a recent gathering with thirty families raising children with special needs.

Under the blazing summer sun, clergy and volunteers brought diapers, hygiene supplies, food, cheese and meat products, sweets, and gifts. Yet the greatest gift they offered was love.

One young man, now an adult and cared for by his grandmother, gently takes Metropolitan Serhii's hand at every visit and silently places it upon his head, asking for a blessing. For him, this simple prayer has become a source of spiritual peace and hope.

Another little girl tightly held a bottle of Coca-Cola and, with the radiant smile only a child can offer, joyfully said it was her favorite drink. It may seem like a small gesture, but moments like these reveal a profound truth: even the simplest act of love can restore joy to a wounded heart.

These children do not ask for pity. They teach us courage. They remind us that true strength is born wherever love dwells. Such encounters continually bring to mind the words of the Holy Apostle Paul: "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2)

Archbishop Daniel, who coordinates the humanitarian ministries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA on behalf of Metropolitan Antony, reflected: "On behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, together with the clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, I wish to assure our brothers and sisters in Ukraine that we never cease praying for you. Every Divine Liturgy, every prayer we offer is lifted up for peace, for the Ukrainian people, and for all who courageously defend the lives of others. Together with our prayers, we continue seeking every possible way to send even more humanitarian assistance wherever it is most urgently needed. Our faith compels us not only to pray but also to serve, because the love of Christ is made visible through acts of mercy."

His Eminence further emphasized that the Church cannot remain indifferent to human suffering.

"When we see a child smile after days of fear because of a small gift; when an elderly person receives a package of food with tears of gratitude; when a family is blessed with medicine or a warm blanket - we recognize the hands of God at work through His people. Mercy is the language of the Gospel."

Expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, Metropolitan Serhii of Donetsk and Mariupol said: "From the depths of my heart, I thank Metropolitan Antony, Archbishop Daniel, the clergy, faithful, and all the benefactors of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA. Your support allows us to stand beside people precisely when they need us most. Because of your generosity, we are able to deliver humanitarian aid even to the most remote communities, care for the elderly, support children with special needs, assist displaced families, and serve those who have lived near the front lines for many years. Together we bear witness that God's love is stronger than war."

Throughout more than a decade of conflict, the humanitarian ministry of the Church has touched millions of lives.

Stories of loss. Stories of evacuation. Stories of tears. But also stories of faith. Stories of hope. Stories of God's abiding presence.

For this is the mission of Christ's Church - to stand beside every suffering person when the rest of the world seems to fall silent.

Today, Ukraine continues to fight not only for its freedom but also for the lives of its children, the elderly, the wounded, the sick, and all those in desperate need of hope.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA prayerfully invites all people of goodwill to continue supporting the Church's humanitarian ministries.

Every donation becomes medicine for the sick. Every food package becomes a family's next meal. Every gallon of fuel makes it possible to deliver aid where it is desperately awaited. Every prayer becomes a source of spiritual strength for those living amid war.

May our Most Merciful Lord bless every benefactor, volunteer, member of the clergy, and every compassionate soul who opens their heart to serve their neighbor.

For the love of Christ knows no borders, and His mercy will always overcome the darkness of war.

Любов, що сильніша за війну: Українська Православна Церква США продовжує служіння милосердя народу України серед спеки, бомбардувань і людського болю

"Бо голодний був Я - і ви нагодували Мене; спраглий був - і ви напоїли Мене..." (Мф. 25:35)

Коли українська земля щодня здригається від російських ракетних ударів, а температура повітря на сході України сягає понад +36°C, людські страждання стають ще важчими. Війна не знає вихідних. Вона не зупиняється через спеку чи втому. Саме тому й служіння Церкви не може припинятися.

З благословення Його Високопреосвященства Митрополита Антонія, Предстоятеля Української Православної Церкви США, духовенство, вірні та численні благодійники продовжують підтримувати український народ, який уже багато років живе в умовах війни.

Через гуманітарне служіння Донецької єпархії Православної Церкви України допомога, яку надсилає Українська Православна Церква США, щоденно доходить до тих, хто найбільше її потребує.

Цими днями до Дніпра було доставлено двадцять тонн гуманітарної молочної продукції - йогуртів, молочних напоїв, продуктів для дітей та вітамінізованого харчування. Протягом лише кількох годин волонтери разом із духовенством розподілили допомогу між внутрішньо переміщеними особами, людьми з інвалідністю, дитячими закладами, лікарнями, хоспісами, будинками для людей похилого віку та багатодітними родинами.

Особливо важливою стала допомога тим, хто через тяжкі захворювання або фізичні обмеження не міг навіть дістатися гуманітарного центру. Священнослужителі та волонтери самі відвозили продукти додому, знаючи, що для багатьох сімей навіть звичайна баночка йогурту сьогодні є великою розкішшю.

Не менш важливим напрямком служіння стала підтримка внутрішньо переміщених осіб. До Волонтерського центру Донецької єпархії щоденно прибувають люди, які буквально кілька днів тому були змушені залишити свої домівки через безперервні обстріли. Вони отримують продуктові набори, медикаменти, теплі пледи та предмети першої необхідності.

Проте, як свідчать самі волонтери, найціннішою допомогою часто стають не продукти.

Це - людська присутність. Добре слово. Спільна молитва. Відчуття того, що вони не залишилися сам на сам зі своїм горем.

Особливо зворушливим прикладом справжнього християнського служіння стала нещодавня зустріч із тридцятьма родинами, які виховують дітей з особливими потребами.

Під палючим літнім сонцем духовенство та волонтери привезли цим дітям підгузки, засоби гігієни, продукти харчування, сирні та ковбасні вироби, солодощі й подарунки. Але найбільшим подарунком стала любов.

Один уже дорослий юнак, який живе зі своєю бабусею, щоразу під час зустрічі бере руку митрополита Сергія й мовчки кладе її собі на голову, просячи благословення. Для нього ця проста молитва стала джерелом духовного миру й надії.

Інша маленька дівчинка, міцно тримаючи у руках пляшечку кока-коли, зі щирою дитячою усмішкою сказала, що це її найулюбленіший напій. Здавалося б, дрібниця. Але саме такі миті відкривають глибоку істину: навіть невеликий жест любові може подарувати людині відчуття щастя.

Ці діти не просять жалю. Вони навчають нас мужності. Вони показують, що справжня сила народжується там, де живе любов. Саме такі зустрічі щоразу нагадують слова святого апостола Павла: «Носіть тягарі один одного, і так виконаєте закон Христів.» (Гал. 6:2)

Архієпископ Даниїл, який координує гуманітарні програми Української Православної Церкви США від імені Митрополита Антонія, зазначає: «Від імені Його Високопреосвященства Митрополита Антонія, духовенства та вірних Української Православної Церкви США хочу запевнити наших братів і сестер в Україні: ми не перестаємо молитися за вас. Кожна Божественна Літургія, кожна молитва підноситься за мир, за український народ, за тих, хто захищає життя інших. Разом із молитвою ми продовжуємо шукати можливості пересилати якомога більше гуманітарної допомоги туди, де вона сьогодні найбільш потрібна.»

Владика також наголосив, що Церква не може залишатися байдужою до людського болю.

«Коли ми бачимо дитину, яка після багатьох днів страху усміхається, отримавши маленький подарунок; коли літня людина зі сльозами приймає пакет із продуктами; коли родина отримує ліки чи теплий плед — тоді ми розуміємо, що саме так Господь діє через людські руки. Милосердя є мовою Євангелія.»

Висловлюючи вдячність Українській Православній Церкві США, митрополит Донецький і Маріупольський Сергій сказав: «Від щирого серця дякую Митрополиту Антонію, Архієпископу Даниїлу, духовенству, вірним та всім благодійникам Української Православної Церкви США. Ваша допомога дозволяє нам бути поруч із людьми саме тоді, коли вони найбільше цього потребують. Завдяки вашій підтримці ми можемо доставляти гуманітарну допомогу навіть до найвіддаленіших місць, підтримувати людей похилого віку, дітей з особливими потребами, внутрішньо переміщені родини та тих, хто вже багато років живе поруч із лінією фронту. Разом ми свідчимо, що любов Божа сильніша за війну.»

За понад десять років війни через гуманітарне служіння Церкви пройшли мільйони людських історій.

Історій втрат. Історій евакуації. Історій сліз. Але також історій віри. Надії. І Божої присутності. Бо саме такою є місія Церкви - бути поруч із людиною тоді, коли весь світ, здається, мовчить.

Сьогодні Україна продовжує боротися не лише за свою свободу, а й за життя своїх дітей, людей похилого віку, поранених, хворих і всіх, хто потребує допомоги.

Українська Православна Церква США звертається до всіх людей доброї волі із проханням продовжувати підтримувати гуманітарні місії Церкви.

Кожна пожертва стає ліками для хворого. Кожен продуктовий набір - вечерею для родини. Кожен літр пального -можливістю доставити допомогу туди, де її вже чекають. Кожна молитва - джерелом духовної сили для тих, хто живе серед війни.

Нехай Всемилостивий Господь благословить усіх благодійників, волонтерів, духовенство та кожного, хто відкриває своє серце для служіння ближньому.

Бо любов Христова не знає кордонів, а милосердя завжди перемагає темряву війни.
